The Office of Research Information Systems is searching for a database administrator or a talented IT professional with database knowledge who is willing to grow into the job. The Database Specialist will be working in a team-based environment and will be providing programming support for the Protocol, Review and Approval Management System (PRAMS), Strategic Information Management System (SIMS) and other applications.
The primary focus of this job will be on database-related tasks; however, some database-related programming should also be expected. Duties will be performed in a collaborative work environment with strict version control, attention to detail, and process adherence required. As required, prepare and/or modify specifications, accurately describe bugs/enhancements and document bug/enhancement history.
This job will be filled at the appropriate level, depending upon the successful candidate’s education and experience. Minimum educational and work-related experience requirements are: Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in computer science or related field.
Must demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft SQL including writing and maintaining stored procedures, packages and data transformations, as well as database administration and optimization. Experience in C#, ASP, XML, HTML, JavaScript, and Visual Studio/SourceSafe is preferred. Experience in object oriented programming is a significant plus. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
