The successful candidate will serve as a junior member of a multi-disciplinary team, developing systems for undersea applications. Responsibilities include executing designs of electrical subsystems that have embedded firmware and software, under the supervision of the senior staff. Travel to remote sites for testing and support of design work is required.
This job will be filled at the appropriate level, depending upon the successful candidate’s education and experience. Minimum educational and work-related experience requirements are: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant engineering disciplines (Master’s degree preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge in component and assembly testing is required, as well as the use of hardware and standard software packages for testing and documentation.
The successful candidate must have the ability to effectively and efficiently communicate, in written and oral presentations, and will be required to coordinate with other engineering disciplines, drafting, and fabrication services for the designs to be packaged into the overall system. A knowledge of FPGA design, firmware, and software drivers is preferred, as well as computer-aided design and layout skills. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation. U.S. Citizenship required. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
