ARL currently has multiple Research and Development Engineer openings for: system engineers, electrical and mechanical engineers, electronics design and test engineers, quality assurance engineers and technicians, transductions engineers and technicians, software engineers, algorithm developers, software test engineers, intelligent control and autonomy engineers, system safety engineers, technical writers, program and project management personnel, configuration management personnel, and engineering process and procedures developers.
The Research and Development Engineer conducts research in a field or specialization of an engineering discipline to discover facts, or performs research directed toward investigation, evaluation, and application of known engineering theories and principles. Plan and conduct, or direct engineering personnel performing complex engineering analyses and experiments to test, prove, or modify theoretical propositions on basis of research findings and experiences of others researching in related technological areas.
May involve hardware and software engineering activity. Evaluate findings to develop new concepts, products, equipment, or processes, or to develop applications of findings to new uses. Prepare technical reports for use by engineering or management personnel for long- and short-range planning, or for use by sales engineering personnel in sales or technical services activities. Classifications are made according to discipline. May generate proposals and interact with sponsors.
May also use computer-assisted engineering software and equipment. These jobs will be filled at the appropriate level, depending upon the successful candidates’ education and experience. Minimum educational and work-related experience requirements are: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or Math or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates selected for all jobs will be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply. These are one-year, fixed-term renewable appointments.
